The cake is a lie?

I wrote about Linux Foundation's celebrating Linux' 20th year before. OK, it is old, here's the news: Microsoft made a video to celebrate Linux' 20th year.

Microsoft has always been criticizing and belittling the free software and open source. And now, they make video to celebrate, surprisingly. I am not sure how this attitude should be perceived. Is it some kind of surrender? Did Microsoft realize that GNU/Linux -or free software and open source- is not that meaningless? Or is this a just politically planned move?

After all these years of scorning, isn't it interesting of Microsoft to do such a move? I think it may mean that Microsoft has understood that the idea behind the free software isn't that meaningless. The rumors about source of the Windows' new version being open points just the same spot. If there is anything related to open source in Microsoft's plans, they might take this as an opportunity to join the great community which is dominated by GNU/Linux users now.

Another possibility is that, Microsoft might have done this 'celebration just to seem nice implying 'hey we are not in business just to make piles of money, we are nice enough to say hi to even if it is a nugatory, worthless think that people are making effort to develop'.

Enough talking, time will reveal the truth. Here is the video:
